Job Title: Senior Reinsurance Accountant

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Reinsurance Accountant to join a growing finance team within a leading insurance organization. This role will focus on the accounting, reporting, and analysis of reinsurance transactions, with significant exposure to STAT and GAAP reporting, treaty administration, and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage monthly and quarterly reinsurance settlements (ModCo, Coinsurance, FWH)
- Prepare and review journal entries related to reinsurance activity under STAT and GAAP
- Complete Schedule S reporting and support statutory filings
- Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis for reinsurance balances
- Prepare holdings and valuation reports for third-party treaties
- Partner with internal teams and external reinsurers to resolve discrepancies
- Support quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with external audits and regulatory reporting requirements
- Evaluate and improve processes and internal controls related to reinsurance accounting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-7+ years of reinsurance or insurance accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of STAT and GAAP accounting
- Experience with ModCo, Coinsurance, or other reinsurance treaty structures
- Familiarity with Schedule S and statutory reporting
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with insurance accounting systems preferred
- CPA (or progress toward) is a plus
