Controller – Finance Department

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Service Provider for the financial close providing reviews of results to ensure accuracy and timely delivery
  • Deliver quarterly and annual financial and regulatory reporting on US GAAP, Bermuda Statutory and Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet bases
  • Synthesise and summarise detailed financial data to create meaningful, result-oriented analysis used for executive management, board & investor reporting
  • Document, implement and maintain appropriate processes and internal controls for financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies
  • Develop annual operating expense budget and produce monthly analysis to actual
  • Drive the planning, coordination and delivery of annual audit
  • Collaborate with Service Provider and internal stakeholders to assess, plan for, and implement new activities
  • Participate in other ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications

  • An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., US CPA or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years US GAAP/Regulatory reporting experience in the (re)insurance industry and 5+ years management experience
  • Life and annuity (re)insurance accounting experience required
  • Practical experience compiling and reviewing statutory and economic balance sheet reporting under Bermuda Regulatory frameworks for (re)insurance companies required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EBS insurance capital framework required
  • Proven leadership skills, and demonstrated success at managing teams
  • Demonstrate a track record of creating and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve
  • Well organized and good attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
