Senior Manager, Operational Risk
Location: Remote (U.S.)
A rapidly growing, investor-backed financial services platform is seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Risk to play a key role in building and scaling its enterprise risk capabilities. This organization is undergoing significant growth and transformation, creating a unique opportunity to help design and implement a best-in-class operational risk framework from the ground up.
This is a high-impact, build-oriented role within Enterprise Risk Management, offering strong visibility to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape how risk is managed across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and enhance the operational risk framework, including risk identification, assessment methodologies, and overall governance structure
- Design and implement a third-party/vendor risk management program, including vendor tiering, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring processes
- Lead business impact analysis (BIA) efforts to identify critical services, dependencies, and operational resilience considerations
- Develop and maintain the risk register, ensuring consistency in risk taxonomy and assessment across business units
- Establish and manage issue and incident tracking processes, including remediation oversight and escalation protocols
- Create and deliver risk reporting, dashboards, and key risk indicators (KRIs) for senior leadership
- Partner cross-functionally with stakeholders across operations, technology, legal, and finance to embed risk awareness and drive practical solutions
- Support risk governance structures, including committees, policies, and escalation frameworks
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in operational risk, enterprise risk, internal audit, or related disciplines
- Experience within financial services, insurance, banking, or consulting environments
- Demonstrated experience building or enhancing risk frameworks or programs (not just maintaining existing processes)
- Strong understanding of operational risk concepts, including risk assessments, controls, and governance
- Experience with third-party/vendor risk management and/or operational resilience (BIA) strongly preferred
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate risk concepts into business terms
