Position: Accounting Policy Lead
Overview:
A growing and innovative insurance provider is looking for a Accounting Policy Lead. This role plays a strategic part in shaping the company's financial integrity by driving the implementation of consistent accounting standards and delivering timely, accurate financial reporting across multiple regulatory frameworks. The position reports directly to the Controller and will serve as a technical accounting authority for statutory, GAAP, and international standards.

Core Responsibilities:
Establish and oversee accounting policies that align with applicable U.S. GAAP, statutory accounting principles (SAP), and IFRS standards.
Act as the internal subject matter expert for evolving regulatory requirements, interpreting updates from bodies such as NAIC.
Proactively assess the financial implications of business initiatives and industry changes, offering guidance on appropriate accounting treatment.
Lead the end-to-end development of quarterly and annual financial statements and disclosures across multiple reporting bases.
Provide leadership for internal reporting processes, ensuring timely, clear communication of results to executive teams.
Collaborate with data, systems, and operations teams to enhance reporting capabilities through automation and standardized tools.
Maintain internal documentation and reporting procedures to ensure consistent compliance and audit readiness.
Job Qualifications:
A strong foundation in accounting with 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, accounting policy, or controllership functions.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience in life insurance or annuity-focused financial reporting is a plus
Solid understanding of statutory and regulatory reporting
Familiarity with financial software tools and systems-prior use of platforms like Oracle or Clearwater is a plus.
Analytical thinker with a strong attention to detail and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across diverse stakeholders.
