Responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of third-party liability claims often involving public entities. These claims may include personal injury, civil rights violations, property damage, employment practices liability, and other unique risks facing public entities. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of municipal operations, regulatory frameworks, and claim resolution strategies specific to the public sector.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and manage liability claims involving public entities from first notice of loss through closure.
- Analyze coverage, assess liability, and evaluate damages, working within statutory immunity frameworks and applicable tort laws.
- Interview witnesses, take statements, gather documentation, and collaborate with legal counsel as needed.
- Maintain clear, timely, and accurate file documentation and reporting in compliance with public sector requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend claim reserves and settlements; negotiate resolutions within authority or in conjunction with leadership and counsel.
- Attend mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and settlement conferences as needed.
