The Role
As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will be vital in supporting the company's services and deployments by managing mission-critical data environments. You'll work closely with fellow DBAs, infrastructure and operations teams to maintain and optimize a robust Oracle database infrastructure, while also supporting other technologies like MariaDB clusters (Galera), PostgreSQL, and even experimenting with NoSQL solutions (e.g. CouchDB).
The role is technically diverse, collaborative, and has a real-world impact on major public services across Europe and Africa.
Your Responsibilities
Install, configure, and manage Oracle and other database technologies.
Design and implement database solutions for complex environments.
Support internal teams (developers, DevOps, IT/OPS) in using databases efficiently.
Execute backups and restorations, and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
Monitor and tune database performance to ensure reliability and availability.
Maintain strong database security, access control, and encryption.
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues as they arise.
Keep up with evolving technologies and share knowledge with the team.
Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement of solutions.
Your Profile
Master's degree or equivalent by experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
Fluent in English (working language), and knowledge of at least one national language (French or Dutch).
Strong self-learning ability - being autodidact is highly valued.
Required Skills
Deep experience with Oracle and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
Solid knowledge of data modeling, schema design, tuning, and backup strategies.
Proven experience in database performance tuning and data integrity.
Experience with clustering technologies is a strong plus.
Familiarity or willingness to learn MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset.
Nice to Have
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage priorities.
Analytical with a good eye for usability and system improvement.
Willingness to occasionally travel (mostly within Europe and Africa) for installations or trainings.
