-Supervise payroll staff effectively and efficiently to accomplish departmental and hospital goals and objectives.
-Develop and refine payroll policies and procedures and communicate them to hospital personnel.
-Interview and train new employees.
-Complete employee performance evaluations and recommend pay increases.
-Perform corrective action counselling and termination of employment when necessary.
-Delegate, review and approve activities of payroll clerks.
-Oversee direct deposit processing and online pay stubs and W-2 forms.
-Responsible for all aspects of Executive payroll, including benefit deductions.
-Review and/or prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax reports including Form 941, UCT-6 (SUTA) and W-2 forms.
-Review and prepare corrections to the time and attendance system for Accounting and Finance personnel.
-Formulate written policies and procedures for the payroll department, subject to approval by the Controller.
-Perform duties as primary administrator for payroll dictionaries in Kronos Timekeeper.
-Functional Team Lead for Kronos applications and Downtime Response Team.
-Validation and set up of users in the Kronos application.
-Assist timekeepers and managers with time and attendance issues.
-Attend continuing education as needed. Maintain knowledge of payroll tax issues and updates to Fair Labor Standards Act.
-Update payroll manual as needed.
-Interact with Human Resource Department as needed.
-Reconciliation of payroll liabilities to general ledger.
-Prepare financial statements for the Pension Plan.
-Act as the primary liaison with CPA firms in the preparation of the organizations 990's.
-Review and approve employee expense reimbursements in accordance with organizations policies.
-Assist with the review and approval of employee benefit payments to vendors.
-Assist general accounting staff with annual audit.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
