Senior Accountant

Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and be responsible for preparing and reviewing GAAP and statutory financial reports for multiple life and health insurance carriers. This role offers exposure to a broad range of accounting functions and regulatory reporting requirements, with the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative, high-performance finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare US GAAP and Statutory Accounting (SAP) financial statements for multiple insurance entities
Post journal entries and perform account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts
Support year-end audit processes and statutory examinations, serving as a liaison with external auditors
Maintain and enhance internal controls to support accurate and compliant financial reporting
Analyze financial results to identify variances and support strategic insights for management
Assist with ad hoc financial reporting, special projects, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience within the US insurance industry (life/health preferred)
Experience with insurance statutory reporting (e.g., Blue Books) strongly preferred
Familiarity with US GAAP accounting for life insurers, including LDTI and/or ASC 825, is a plus
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office
Experience with ERP/accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Sage-Sage preferred)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with high attention to detail
