Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting
Hybrid - Jersey City, NJ or Cleveland, OH
We're seeking a Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting to join a dynamic finance team at a well-established property and casualty insurance carrier. This hybrid role is based out of either Cleveland, OH or Jersey City, NJ, offering the opportunity to contribute to strategic financial operations and work closely with cross-functional teams such as underwriting, actuarial, and legal. You'll play a key role in supporting GAAP-based reporting, journal entries, and month-end close processes.

While insurance industry experience is highly preferred, we're open to candidates from similar financial services backgrounds or those with demonstrated interest in the sector.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and support GAAP reporting processes
Execute journal entries, account reconciliations, and support month-end close activities
Perform detailed variance analysis and support ad hoc financial reporting requests
Assist with cross-functional financial projects and process improvements
Collaborate with internal teams including underwriting, actuarial, and legal on data accuracy and compliance
Support special projects assigned by finance leadership, with opportunities to take on increasing responsibilities over time
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
5-7 years of professional accounting experience, ideally in the insurance or financial services industry
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, monthly close processes, and account reconciliations
Experience preparing journal entries and working with general ledger systems
High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a solutions-oriented mindset
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Demonstrated tenure in prior roles; we value stability and growth in your work history
Insurance carrier experience is strongly preferred; TPA or related experience may be considered
CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
