Underwriting Operations Assistant
Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days in office)
A dynamic, fast-growing underwriting business operating within a leading Lloyd's platform is looking for a proactive Underwriting Operations Assistant to join its small but high-performing team. Working closely with the Head of Operations, this role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, has strong organisational skills, and is looking to deepen their technical knowledge within operations - without moving into underwriting.
What you'll be doing:
Supporting the underwriting team with operational tasks, including binders, line slips, credit control, and file management.
Handling and reconciling bordereaux, chasing outstanding items, and ensuring data accuracy.
Assisting with credit control, liaising with brokers, and resolving payment issues.
Producing ad hoc reports and assisting in the verification and review of data quality.
Coordinating with internal teams to ensure smooth and compliant operations.
Offering general administrative assistance - note: this role does not involve data entry.
What we're looking for:
A technically minded individual with at least 3 years' experience in insurance or reinsurance operations.
Proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs).
Strong organisational and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
A collaborative team player with a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
Someone curious and eager to learn, open to exposure across multiple classes of business.
A long-term interest in underwriting operations (not underwriting itself).
