Senior Tax Accountant (multiple locations acceptable)
Oliver James is currently partnered with a well-established P&C insurance organization is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its corporate tax team. This role will support income tax reporting, compliance, and financial reporting processes while working closely with internal finance teams and external auditors. The position offers exposure to both GAAP and STAT reporting within a complex environment. Can sit in NJ, PA, or CT.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and assist in the review of federal and state income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax calculations under both GAAP and STAT accounting
* Perform provision-to-return reconciliations and support intercompany federal income tax settlements
* Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statement tax disclosures for both GAAP and statutory reporting requirements
* Support federal and state income tax compliance, including preparation of returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments
* Assist with gathering documentation and responding to federal and state tax audits as needed
* Perform tax-related research and analysis related to federal and state tax matters
* Prepare and support state and local tax filings, including estimates, extensions, and final returns where required
* Assist with internal controls and compliance processes, including SOX-related documentation and testing
* Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the tax function
* Support reporting and compliance activities related to employee benefit and pension plans where applicable
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
* 3+ years of tax accounting experience, preferably within insurance, financial services, or public accounting
* Experience with federal and state income tax provisions and compliance
* Exposure to GAAP and Statutory accounting frameworks preferred
* CPA or Master’s in Taxation is a plus
