AVP, Product Development Counsel – Insurance [HYBRID]

They are seeking an experienced and dedicated Attorney specialized in Product Development for Primary Casualty (e.g. Commercial GL, Commercial Auto Liability) and Excess & Umbrella Casualty lines (e.g. Excess Liability and Commercial Umbrella). Role & Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Head of Product, and assist in the product development process by working with underwriting, claims, and coverage teams to develop and draft new products, as well as improve existing products
- Evaluate and advise on the creation of new insurance offerings and the refinement of existing products.
- Provide guidance to underwriting teams on prevailing market practices and potential areas for competitive differentiation.
- Assess the legal and commercial impact of proposed business strategies, with a focus on risk mitigation and opportunity enhancement.
- Deliver legal and strategic advice to internal stakeholders on insurance product and regulatory considerations.
- Draft, update, and manage policy forms and endorsements to support product development and portfolio maintenance.
- Partner with regulatory and operational functions throughout the filing process, including leading responses to regulatory inquiries, objections, and feedback, while coordinating with underwriting, claims, and coverage teams.
- Identify complex legal or compliance challenges and develop practical, business-oriented solutions in collaboration with the Product Development Team.
Requirements:
- MUST HAVE Juris Doctor & Bar Admission USA
- MUST HAVE 3-6+ years of experience in either a law firm or relevant in-house position with an insurance focus, insurance product development experience, or claims experience.
- Strong command of insurance coverage matters and coverage implications of policy wording
- Strong experience with ISO, GL and Property forms

- Salary: $150k-190k base salary + bonus + wider benefits
