Title: Senior Product Owner
Location: Chicago, IL
Setting: Hybrid, 2 days on-site
Salary: $130,000 – 150,000
We’re partnering with a well-established insurance organization that’s investing heavily in modernizing its digital and product capabilities. As part of this transformation, they’re looking to bring on a Senior Product Owner to help drive high-impact initiatives across their Agile delivery teams.
This is a highly visible role where you’ll sit at the intersection of business and technology, shaping product direction and ensuring teams are delivering meaningful value to end users.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as the primary link between business stakeholders and Agile teams, ensuring priorities align with overall product and organizational goals
- Own and manage the product backlog, including defining user stories, setting acceptance criteria, and prioritizing work based on business value
- Partner closely with Scrum Masters and engineering teams to guide delivery across 1-2 Agile teams, depending on initiative scope
- Lead and actively contribute to Agile ceremonies (refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives), helping teams stay aligned and continuously improve
- Break down complex initiatives into clear, incremental deliverables that can be executed efficiently
- Use data, metrics, and stakeholder feedback to evaluate outcomes and refine product direction
- Collaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader program objectives
- Foster a team environment built on ownership, accountability, and continuous learning
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an Agile environment
- Strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Ability to translate business needs into actionable requirements for technical teams
- Comfortable working closely with both business stakeholders and engineering teams
- Experience influencing priorities and driving decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities
- Experience in commercial insurance, particularly General Liability or related lines
- Familiarity with Scaled Agile (SAFe) or similar frameworks
- Preferred: Relevant certifications (CSPO, PSPO, SAFe PO/PM, etc.
