About the Role

A New York-based real estate practice is seeking a highly motivated Real Estate Associate to support sophisticated landlord‑side real estate finance transactions, acquisitions, sales, leasing, and related commercial real estate matters across the New York metropolitan market and beyond.

This position offers hands‑on experience with high‑value transactions, direct mentorship from a seasoned real estate dealmaker, and exposure to a diverse client base of developers, lenders, investment groups, private investors, and real estate entrepreneurs.


Key Responsibilities

Transactional Work (Primary Focus)

Draft, review, and negotiate documentation for:

  • Commercial real estate financing (acquisition, construction, project, and mezzanine).
  • Landlord‑side office, industrial, and retail leases.
  • Purchase and sale agreements for high‑value and net‑leased assets.
  • Joint ventures, operating agreements, and complex capital structures.
  • Ground leases, loan workouts, and restructuring agreements.

Deal Management & Support

Assist in managing transactions from term sheet through closing, including:

  • Diligence review (title, survey, zoning, environmental, organizational, financial).
  • Coordinating communications among lenders, borrowers, brokers, title companies, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Preparing closing checklists, binders, and managing post‑closing matters.

Real Estate Litigation Support (Secondary)

  • Support matters such as foreclosures, contract disputes, and landlord‑tenant litigation.
  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and assist with filings as needed.

Professional Development & Learning Opportunities

Associates will gain experience in:

Qualifications

  • 2-6 years of experience in real estate transactions at a law firm or real estate boutique.
  • Strong drafting abilities and experience in at least one of the following:
    • Commercial real estate finance
    • Commercial leasing
    • Acquisitions and dispositions
    • Joint ventures or ownership structuring
  • Familiarity with New York real estate practices preferred.
  • Litigation exposure involving real estate is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple active matters and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Client‑focused mindset with responsiveness and attention to detail.
