Our client, a leading, well-capitalized global re/insurance group – widely recognized as the market leader in retrospective insurance solutions is seeking a VP, Investments to join its US investment team. With $20bn in AUM across three primary regions, this is a high-impact role sitting alongside the Regional CIO.
You will play a central role in three areas:
- M&A Portfolio Construction – Working closely with the M&A team, you will review target acquisition portfolios, recommend repositioning strategies, and deliver portfolio yield analysis to support internal deal pricing.
- Strategic Asset Allocation & ALM – Develop and maintain strategic asset allocation across existing portfolios, drawing on inputs from Treasury, Actuarial, Capital Planning, and capital markets data to ensure alignment with liability profiles and regulatory requirements.
- New Idea Generation – Evaluate market conditions and develop strategic and tactical investment recommendations for presentation to group and local investment committees. You will also collaborate across Tax, Accounting, Legal, Regulatory, and other functions to develop and implement new investment strategies.
Additional responsibilities include external manager diligence and performance measurement (across fixed income, private equity, real estate, high yield, bank loans, EM debt and more), BoD/Investment Committee reporting, cash management, compliance monitoring, and NII budgeting & projections.

What You’ll Bring
- 8+ years in investment management within an insurance company
- Deep knowledge of strategic and tactical asset allocation, ALM, and portfolio construction
- Broad asset class experience – core fixed income plus alternatives (PE, real estate, hedge funds, CLOs, high yield, EM debt, infrastructure)
- Experience managing external asset manager relationships and performing manager diligence
- Strong quantitative skills and comfort with large data sets
- Excellent written and verbal communication – you will present to investment committees, BoDs, regulators, and rating agencies
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; Bloomberg proficiency
- Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree preferred (finance, economics, statistics or related)
- CFA preferred
- Knowledge of SQL, VBA, Python, or PowerBI a plus
- Understanding of insurance capital regimes a plus
