Accounting Operations Manager
Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid)
Oliver James is currently partnered with a growing Property & Casualty insurance carrier based in the Tampa area to identify an Accounting Operations Manager. This is a high-impact opportunity to join a well-capitalized organization that is investing in its finance infrastructure and building out scalable processes to support continued growth.
This role will sit at the intersection of accounting, operations, and process improvement-ideal for someone who enjoys both managing a team and driving efficiencies across complex financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger activity, close processes, and reconciliations
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing leadership, development, and performance oversight
- Drive improvements in month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Partner cross-functionally with claims, underwriting, and finance teams to streamline operational accounting workflows
- Support the development and enhancement of internal controls in compliance with regulatory and audit requirements
- Lead or assist with system implementations, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with financial reporting and provide insights to senior leadership on operational performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
- 6+ years of accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting and/or insurance industry experience
- Prior experience within Property & Casualty insurance is highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring staff
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting operations within an insurance environment
- Proven ability to improve processes and implement scalable solutions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
