Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering network consultancy, design, and support services for international clients across Government, Financial Services, and other enterprise sectors. This is a fully remote contract role suited to a proactive and technically strong networking professional who is comfortable working across multiple client environments and time zones.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on networking best practices, designing secure and scalable infrastructures, and supporting critical enterprise network environments. Strong expertise in Fortinet, Cisco, and Azure networking technologies is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert consultancy and technical guidance on networking best practices, security, performance, and scalability.
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise network infrastructures for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Support and optimise LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, wireless, and cloud networking environments.
- Configure and troubleshoot Fortinet and Cisco networking and security solutions.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security across multiple customer environments.
- Lead network troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution for complex issues.
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and cloud teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Participate in change management, implementation planning, and after-hours support activities where required.
- Ensure all client environments comply with security, governance, and operational standards.
- Manage Azure networking components including VNets, NSGs, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity where applicable.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Network Consultant in enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise with:
- Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, SD-WAN)
- Cisco networking (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)
- Microsoft Azure networking services
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and network security principles.
- Experience designing and supporting highly available and secure network architectures.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud networking and connectivity solutions.
- Experience working with enterprise or regulated-sector clients such as Government or Financial Services is advantageous
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment with flexible working hours.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing priorities independently.
- Strong customer-facing and consulting skills.
- Adaptable and comfortable working across international time zones and dynamic client environments.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on service quality and security best practices.
