Manager / Assistant Controller – Statutory Reporting

Our client is a fast-growing, fully remote annuity platform backed by institutional capital. The business is building out its finance function and offers the opportunity to join at a key stage of growth.
The Role
Reporting to senior finance leadership, this position will support statutory reporting, investment accounting, and regulatory compliance for a U.S. insurance entity.
Responsibilities

Prepare quarterly and annual NAIC statutory financial statements.

Prepare and review investment schedules (Schedule D, BA, and B).

Support statutory close, regulatory filings, and compliance requirements.

Account for fixed income, mortgage loan, and alternative investments.

Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Assist with audits, examinations, and regulatory inquiries.

Support process improvements across reporting and controls.
Requirements

5+ years of insurance accounting or statutory reporting experience.
- Life / annuity industry expeirence required.

Strong knowledge of NAIC SAP and Blue Book reporting.

Experience with investment schedules and insurance investment accounting.

CPA highly desireable but not necessary .

Strong Excel skills; NetSuite, GAIN, or Clearwater experience is a plus.

Comfortable in a high-growth environment.
Compensation
Base salary ranged from 120-160k + bonus, benefits, and fully remote flexibility.
