Managing Director – Structured Credit

A leading institutional asset management firm, with over $60 billion in AUM and a multi-decade track record managing capital on behalf of affiliated global insurance entities and institutional clients, is seeking a Managing Director to join its Structured Finance team. The platform invests across public and private fixed income, structured credit, private credit, real estate, and equities, with a focus on long-duration, high-quality investments aligned with insurance liability profiles.

Managing Director, Structured Credit, is a senior member of the Structured Finance team. The Managing Director is expected to have a broad knowledge of the structured finance industry with established relationships with market participants, be able to manage an investment from origination to closing and be a mentor for junior team members. The ideal candidate brings deep structured credit experience, strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record of managing ABS securities and generating deal flow across Consumer, Commercial, and Esoteric Structured asset classes.

Asset classes include: consumer loans, credit cards, solar, timeshare, property assessed clean energy, equipment, single family rental, and esoteric asset classes.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate investment proposals of private/144a and public asset-backed securities for purchase.
  • Responsible for all aspects of deal execution including sourcing, cash flow analysis, sponsor/manager analysis, investment recommendation, committee presentation, documentation, closing and pricing rationale/relative value.
  • Maintain fulsome relationships with brokers, bankers, equity sponsors and other deal origination sources.
  • Perform on-site due diligence, meeting with issuer’s senior management team and reviewing operations.
  • Monitor asset-backed portfolio, including ongoing review of asset performance, credit enhancement, and credit analysis of servicers to determine appropriateness of existing holdings in light of current deal status and market conditions. Formulate exit strategies and/or workouts as necessary.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, operations and technology teams to ensure robust investment processes.
  • Track industry and asset specific issues and maintain relationships with servicers, investment banks, and rating agencies.
  • Lead, mentor and develop junior members of Structured Finance team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel required.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and work within deadlines.
  • Motivated and self driven individual with a desire to lead deals and develop new relationships
  • Experience with an established organization, preferably in an institutional asset management firm

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree , preferable in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field, required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the structured finance sector required.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) preferred.
