Accounting Manager | P&C Insurance | Maryland (Hybrid)
We are currently partnering with a well-established, Property & Casualty insurer to appoint an Accounting Manager into their growing finance function.
This is a high-visibility role within a collaborative team, offering clear succession planning and long-term progression into senior leadership. We are open to considering both individuals already working within a carrier seeking a lateral move or a step up into a role with significant career progression opportunity. Equally, we are open to considering individuals in public accounting that have exposure to Insurance clients.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the VP of Accounting, this role will take ownership of core accounting operations while managing a small team. You will play a key role in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and audit processes, while partnering with senior leadership on strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversight of financial reporting and general ledger activities
* Ownership of NAIC and statutory regulatory filings
* Management of the budgeting process and variance analysis
* Supervision of Accounts Payable and junior accounting staff
* Coordination of external audits and insurance examinations
* Support senior leadership with reporting, presentations, and business insights
Candidate Profile
* CPA preferred (MBA also considered)
* 5-7+ years’ accounting experience within P&C insurance
* Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles (NAIC)
* Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
* Background in public accounting with insurance exposure also considered
The Offer
* $125,000 – $150,000 base + bonus (flexible for the right profile)
