My client is a leading global reinsurance brokerage and risk, capital, and strategic advisory firm, with a broad international footprint and European headquarters. We have partnered successfully with the firm across multiple global locations and are currently supporting growth within their New York and Minneapolis operations.
They are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join their Catastrophe Analytics team. This is a highly visible, client-facing role within a best-in-class analytics function, advising senior stakeholders on catastrophe risk and delivering insight that directly informs risk selection and reinsurance strategy.
The role requires hands-on expertise in catastrophe modelling, with the ability to interpret and apply model outputs, translate complex analysis into clear commercial insight, and operate confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver end-to-end catastrophe modelling, including data preparation, portfolio analysis, reporting, and visualisation
- Support clients and internal stakeholders on exposure data, real-time catastrophe events, model validation, view of risk, and portfolio optimisation
- Apply catastrophe model outputs to inform risk selection and reinsurance programme design
- Use proprietary and third-party tools to structure and manage catastrophe reinsurance programmes
- Improve analytical processes and contribute to innovative, client-focused solutions
- Build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and reinsurers, communicating technical insights clearly
Key qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in catastrophe modelling within property insurance or reinsurance
- Strong experience with cat modelling platforms (e.g. Touchstone, RiskLink) and understanding of model methodologies and limitations
- Advanced data and analytics skills (SQL, Excel, Python/R, Power BI, GIS tools)
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
- Degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline; professional designations are a plus
- Authorised to work in the US
