We are partnering with a leading insurance organization to identify a Director, Investment Accounting to join its Corporate Finance team. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting a sophisticated investment portfolio and playing a critical role in both financial reporting and technical accounting.

Role Overview

The Director will oversee accounting and reporting for a complex investment portfolio across GAAP and Statutory (STAT) frameworks. This individual will serve as a key technical leader, partnering closely with finance, investments, and external auditors to ensure accurate and compliant reporting while driving process improvements and supporting strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting and reporting for a diversified investment portfolio
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to investments
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment, classification, and disclosure under GAAP and STAT
  • Act as a technical resource for investment-related accounting matters
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Investments, Treasury, and Corporate Finance
  • Support audit processes and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Drive process enhancements and strengthen internal controls
  • Manage and develop team members

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in investment accounting or a mix of public accounting and industry experience focused on insurance investments
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred, ideally Big Four or national firm
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting, particularly within insurance
  • Experience with fixed income, equities, and/or alternative investments preferred
  • Background within insurance carriers or financial services highly preferred
  • Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
