Oliver James is partnered with an established financial services firm that is looking to hire an Investment Accounting Associate to support operational accounting and reporting for derivatives across multiple insurance entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review monthly reconciliations between trading systems and subledgers for all derivative activity.
- Support preparation and timely completion of quarterly and annual derivative disclosures and regulatory schedules.
- Partner with investment, accounting policy, third-party administrators, and technology teams to support new hedging strategies and system enhancements.
- Maintain hedge documentation, perform controls and checks for hedge accounting, and coordinate with external auditors.
- Contribute to process redesign initiatives aimed at improving data flow, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3-10 years of relevant experience; derivatives and insurance investment accounting experience are advantageous.
- Familiarity with GAAP/STAT reporting and investment operations.
- Experience with process redesign, controls, and accounting systems (e.g., Clearwater) preferred.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and organizational skills; proactive and detail-oriented.
