Position: Knowledge Management Attorney – Finance
Location: New York
The Knowledge Management Attorney (KMA) for the Finance practice group will serve as an essential partner to the team, responsible for shaping, executing, and sustaining the group’s knowledge infrastructure. The KMA will enhance the efficiency, consistency, and strategic capabilities of the Finance practice by developing high‑quality knowledge resources, supporting document drafting, driving attorney training, contributing to thought leadership and marketing initiatives, and leading innovation projects-particularly those involving new technologies and AI. This role requires a strong foundation in leveraged finance transactions at a major law firm, exceptional drafting and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives at once.
In this position, the KMA will leverage their legal expertise to advance the Finance group’s broader goals and promote a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Finance practice leadership to evaluate knowledge needs, establish a comprehensive KM strategy, and maintain an ongoing review process to measure progress and refine priorities.
- Draft, update, and manage model documents, internal guidance materials, client alerts, checklists, and other critical knowledge assets in collaboration with Finance attorneys.
- Collect, organize, and contribute content to internal knowledge repositories, including articles, presentations, and thought leadership pieces, helping position the firm as a leader in Finance and legal innovation.
- Work closely with practitioners to capture, track, and maintain deal experience data using the firm’s experience management platform and deal intelligence tools.
- Promote the effective use of KM platforms and resources within the Finance group and ensure practice content remains accurate, current, and accessible.
- Monitor legal and market developments relevant to the Finance practice-particularly in private credit and leveraged lending-and communicate timely insights to attorneys.
- Lead key knowledge initiatives, including technology and AI‑driven projects tailored to the needs of the Finance group.
- Identify training needs and collaborate with attorneys, professional development, and business development teams to design and deliver targeted training programs.
- Coordinate with KM peers across other practice areas to share best practices and foster cross‑practice alignment.
- Build relationships with external industry colleagues, legal technology providers, and thought leaders to stay informed on trends and opportunities.
- Attend relevant conferences, seminars, and industry programs to remain up to date and contribute to knowledge sharing within the firm.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource to attorneys and support the firm’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Perform additional special projects and duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in researching and drafting documents associated with sophisticated finance transactions.
- Strong understanding of evolving market trends and key case law affecting lenders in the private credit and broadly syndicated loan markets.
- Familiarity with knowledge management methodologies and legal innovation practices (preferred).
- Excellent writing skills with a high level of mastery in grammar, structure, and clarity.
- Strong training and communication skills, including the ability to design, deliver, and adapt educational content.
- Proficiency in legal research methods and platforms, and comfort using a variety of online research tools.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of five years of leveraged finance (or closely related) experience at a large law firm.
