Automation & DevOps Lead – Cyber
Sheffield – £550/d (inside IR35) – 12 months
Oliver James has partnered with a global banking organisation undergoing significant investment across its Technology and Cyber functions. As part of continued growth within Cybersecurity Engineering, they are seeking an Automation & DevOps Lead to help drive engineering maturity, automation and DevSecOps best practice across multiple cyber teams.
This role sits within a central engineering enablement function, focused on improving how cyber services are built, integrated and deployed. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to embed automation, standardise pipelines and improve delivery efficiency in a complex, highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the adoption of DevOps and automation best practice across Cyber engineering teams

Design, improve and standardise CI/CD pipelines and deployment patterns

Drive engineering efficiency, reducing friction in how cyber services are consumed

Partner with engineering leads to embed DevSecOps principles across delivery teams

Promote reuse of tooling, frameworks and patterns across Cyber

Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and tooling

Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to ensure scalable, resilient solutions
Essential Skills

Strong DevOps experience, both hands-on and at design level

Proven experience building and improving CI/CD pipelines at scale

Experience embedding automation and engineering best practice within large organisations

Strong understanding of systems integration and platform engineering

Experience operating in complex, regulated environments

Ability to influence engineering teams and drive adoption of standards

Strong communication skills with experience working across distributed teams
Desirable Skills

Experience within financial services or another highly regulated industry

Exposure to Cybersecurity engineering environments or security tooling

Experience embedding DevSecOps practices across multiple teams

Familiarity with engineering governance and non-functional requirements

Experience contributing to engineering community-of-practice initiatives

Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
