Managing Associate – Underwriting Team
Reporting to: Senior Vice President – David Shotton
The Opportunity
This isn’t just another recruiting role – it’s a chance to own something. As a Managing Associate on our Underwriting division, you’ll run a full-desk operation (new business development and recruiting) within one of the most dynamic and relationship-driven markets in financial services: P&C insurance.
You’ll be building a profitable desk from the ground up, starting with a laser focus on the Tri-State area before expanding your footprint nationwide. The infrastructure is already there – we’ve been embedded in this market since 2015, with deep-rooted client relationships, a recognized brand, and a reputation that opens doors before you even knock.
This sits within our highest-performing direct-hire team, which has seen more commercial and operational growth than any other division over the last five years. The ceiling here is yours to define.
What’s in it for you?
- A realistic path to billing $1M+ by year 3
- A clear, merit-based promotion pathway – no politics, no waiting your turn
- Day-one support from a leadership team that sits in the top 3% of industry performers
- A close-knit, high-performing team culture where your wins are celebrated and your growth is invested in
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be a hands-on, full-desk recruiter who leads by example – headhunting top underwriting talent while simultaneously winning and growing client relationships. Specifically, you’ll be mapping target companies and leveraging our existing client base to accelerate your pipeline, building genuine partnerships through networking, in-person meetings, and client presentations, negotiating commercial terms with multinational firms and navigating PSL structures for both permanent and interim hires, and cross-selling across disciplines to maximize the value you bring to every client relationship.
Who We’re Looking For
We want someone who’s hungry – not just to hit a number, but to build something that’s theirs.
You’ll bring 3-4 years of staffing experience with at least 2 years running a full desk with new business responsibility. We’re open to backgrounds across professional services and specialized markets – what matters more than your sector is your drive to immerse yourself in a new one.
Beyond that, you’re confident and commercially sharp, with the gravitas to challenge senior stakeholders and the emotional intelligence to build lasting relationships. You thrive under pressure, you’re wired to compete, and you have a track record of high achievement – inside or outside of work – that speaks for itself. Experience working with international or global clients with both US and European presence is a strong advantage.
If you’re ready to stop being a cog in someone else’s machine and start building a desk that becomes a division, let’s talk.
