Senior Claims Examiner – General Liability
New York / New Jersey (Hybrid – 3 days in office)
$142,000 – $168,000 base + 15% bonus + full benefits
A leading insurance carrier is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Examiner to join its General Liability team. This is a senior-level technical role handling complex Commercial General Liability claims across a diverse portfolio. You will manage mid to high-exposure claims from first notice through resolution, with a strong focus on coverage analysis, litigation strategy, and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle complex CGL claims including premises liability, slip & fall, product liability, bodily injury, and construction-related matters
- Lead coverage investigations and draft detailed coverage position letters independently
- Manage litigated files, coordinating defense counsel and driving strategy through to resolution
- Evaluate liability, damages, and settlement exposure on higher-severity claims
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, insureds, attorneys, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines and industry best practices
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Commercial General Liability claims experience
- Strong exposure to coverage interpretation and litigated files
- Experience handling New York Labor Law and/or Construction Liability claims highly preferred
- Background with a reputable carrier or law firm
- Bachelor’s degree required; industry designations (AIC, CPCU, etc.) are a plus
