Senior Claims Manager – Complex Casualty

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and evaluate complex casualty and/or specialty professional liability claims with exposures exceeding $1M

  • Analyze coverage, liability, and damages while ensuring accurate reserving and timely resolution

  • Draft and review reservation of rights and disclaimer letters

  • Negotiate settlements, control expenses, and mitigate loss exposure

  • Oversee claims handled by direct reports and provide technical guidance and mentorship

  • Participate in hiring, training, and development of claims professionals

  • Lead internal training initiatives on emerging claims trends and complex issues

  • Maintain close collaboration with underwriting and other internal stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with internal claims procedures, controls, and best practices

  • Support trials, mediations, and arbitrations as needed

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of casualty and/or specialty claims handling experience or related litigation background

  • Strong experience within the Excess & Surplus (E&S) market

  • Expertise handling complex coverage issues and multi-jurisdictional claims

  • Demonstrated experience managing claims with high severity exposure ($1M+)

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and written communication skills

  • Experience with mediation, arbitration, and litigation management

  • Ability to mentor and develop junior claims professionals

  • Proficiency with claims systems and Microsoft Office tools

  • Adjuster licenses or certifications are a plus
