Senior Compliance Specialist – Commercial Insurance – NEW YORK OR NEW JERSEY

Position Overview
The Senior Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing regulatory and bureau compliance initiatives across multiple commercial lines of business. This role will monitor and interpret regulatory developments, oversee bureau adoption activities, and ensure new or revised forms, rules, and rates are implemented accurately and in a timely manner.
The position partners closely with internal stakeholders across product, underwriting, actuarial, legal, and technology teams to embed regulatory compliance within product development, operational workflows, and policy administration systems.
Key Responsibilities

Lead regulatory and bureau compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions and applicable lines of business

Monitor, analyze, and interpret regulatory updates and bureau circulars from organizations such as ISO, AAIS, and NCCI, as well as state insurance departments

Evaluate and implement new or revised bureau forms, rules, rates, and loss costs, ensuring proper integration into systems and product offerings

Partner with Legal, Underwriting, Claims, Product, Actuarial, and Compliance teams to ensure regulatory requirements are incorporated into operational processes

Serve as a key internal contact for bureau-related inquiries and coordination with external organizations including ISO, AAIS, NCCI, and SERFF

Collaborate with technology and data teams to identify compliance gaps and enhance automation, controls, and governance within compliance workflows

Respond to regulatory and product data calls as required

Develop and maintain quality assurance processes to validate system outputs against approved filings, rating algorithms, and regulatory requirements

Work with underwriting governance and actuarial teams to align bureau adoptions and filings with business strategy and market positioning

Support internal audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews

Provide training and guidance to internal teams on regulatory obligations, bureau rules, and compliance best practices

Manage jurisdiction-specific compliance reporting and monitoring requirements

Coordinate with external vendors or consultants when needed to support regulatory or filing initiatives
Qualifications

7+ years of compliance experience within the insurance industry

Workers’ Compensation experience required

Strong working knowledge of ISO, NCCI, SERFF, and other bureau filing processes and advisory materials

Deep understanding of insurance regulatory frameworks, rating methodologies, and product compliance requirements

Ability to interpret regulatory changes and align compliance activities with business objectives

Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally across business units
