Compensation: $170,000 – $220,000 base salary + performance bonus + comprehensive benefits

Position Overview
The Senior Controller will serve as a senior finance leader, overseeing end-to-end balance sheet management across both legacy in-force and growth portfolios. This role is critical in driving accurate statutory reporting, capital and liquidity planning, and financial strategy in alignment with the company’s reinsurance and annuity growth objectives. The position also plays a central role in M&A due diligence, integration, and execution. The ideal candidate combines deep insurance technical expertise with proven leadership ability in complex, fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and oversight of statutory financial statements (Blue Book) and regulatory filings.

  • Manage capital and liquidity strategies to optimize returns and ensure long-term financial stability.

  • Direct financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.

  • Oversee tax and expense planning for all portfolios.

  • Partner with executive leadership on M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration.

  • Lead statutory investment accounting across complex asset classes, including private credit, ABS, CLOs, commercial mortgages, equities, and real estate.

  • Monitor and project RBC ratios, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align finance with operational and strategic objectives.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.

  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership in the insurance industry.

  • Deep expertise in U.S. statutory accounting (life insurance and reinsurance) with strong GAAP knowledge.

  • Proven experience preparing full Blue Book statutory filings.

  • In-depth understanding of reinsurance structures, including funds held and modco arrangements.

  • Advanced knowledge of investment accounting for complex portfolios.

  • Product expertise in annuities (MYGA, FIA) with exposure to LTC, RILA, preneed, and final expense products.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
