Senior Statutory Accountant
Job Summary / Introduction
Join a collaborative finance team that prepares and analyses U.S. statutory financial statements (“Yellow Books”) and related GAAP reports. You will own month-end close activities, deliver high-quality internal and external financial statements, and provide insightful variance analyses that inform leadership decision-making.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA (or active candidacy) preferred
- Minimum four years of recent accounting or audit work with full audited financial statements
- Proven expertise in U.S. statutory reporting within the insurance sector
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP, U.S. STAT, Oracle ERP, and advanced Excel skills,
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities; able to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Comfortable interacting with senior finance leadership and working with minimal supervision
Detailed Job Description
- Manage month-end close and financial reporting in line with U.S. GAAP and U.S. STAT requirements
- Prepare and record journal entries for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses
- Assist with Yellow Book filings and audited financial statements
- Produce detailed balance-sheet and income-statement variance analyses
- Compile workpapers, schedules, exhibits, and other supporting documentation
- Handle account reconciliations, accruals, analyses, and general-ledger entries
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and settlements each month
- Research and advise on complex accounting treatments
- Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and coordinate audit requests
- Perform ad-hoc financial analyses and support special projects as assigned
- Provide robust support during internal and external audits
