The VMware Senior Consultant will collaborate closely with internal architecture teams and customer stakeholders, taking ownership of complex infrastructure solutions from design through to delivery with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level technical support across multiple client environments within managed services and project engagements.
- Manage and resolve high-priority and escalated technical incidents, following established incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and ensure resolution within agreed SLAs.
- Escalate technical issues internally or to relevant vendors where appropriate.
- Proactively identify potential system issues and resolve them before they impact operations.
- Perform systems management design activities, including patching strategies and upgrade planning.
- Monitor and report on capacity management and performance metrics.
- Act as a key technical design resource for customer projects and new opportunities.
- Develop and review technical proposals, including high-level designs and solution estimates.
- Produce solution specifications and low-level design documentation.
- Implement and deliver infrastructure solutions within client environments.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation in line with organisational and client standards.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key qualifications:
- Candidates must hold VCP and/or VCAP certification and have experience with at least three of the following: VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF); vSphere; Site Recovery Manager (SRM); vSAN; Horizon; Workspace ONE; NSX; vCloud Director (vCD)
- 4+ years’ experience in data storage and management, including FC and iSCSI SAN implementations (design experience desirable).
- 3+ years’ experience with Veeam or other backup solutions.
- Strong experience implementing and configuring virtual and physical infrastructure solutions.
- Experience with capacity planning and infrastructure sizing methodologies.
- Design and implementation of high availability solutions.
- Experience with cloud management tools is advantageous.
- ITIL Foundation certification is desirable.
- Security experience beneficial.
- Linux experience advantageous.
- Scripting skills for system administration and automation tasks.
- Full driving licence.
- Strong focus on delivering high-quality customer service.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Act as a professional ambassador when engaging with clients and stakeholders.
