With more than 240 obstacle-laden assault courses in 25 countries around the world, the famed Spartan Race is no easy feat.
Where Toby Weston, Director, Oliver James Associates, and Bryan Marshall, Managing Director, HFG Insurance Recruitment are typically competitors, the two will instead work together in hopes of overcoming the hardest route of the three offered in Johor, Malaysia.
“Bryan and I go way back, and we’ve followed a remarkably similar career path over the years, so we’re keen to find out who’s really boss on the course,” laughs Toby.
Beyond enjoying a friendly rivalry, the two are aiming to donate $3,000 to Phoenix Futures, a UK charity dear to Toby’s heart. “Phoenix Futures supported my father-in-law in crucial times over the last two decades before he passed away earlier this year. The organisation means a lot to my wife, so we decided to do what we can to further aid the work they do in our communities back home,” commented Toby.
Bryan said “it’s essential to me that I do what I can to help Toby. We may pitch against one another out in the market, but we’re friends first and foremost, and this cause is important to him. In unifying our companies, we hope to raise as much as possible for the charity, which makes a real difference to thousands of lives in the UK.”
Spartan Race Malaysia takes place on December 9. You can follow Toby and Bryan’s progress on social media, and donate to the JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/toby-weston1.
