Senior Litigation Specialist (Medical Professional Liability Claims)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Specialist to join a growing claims organization focused on medical professional liability. This role is responsible for managing complex, high-exposure claims from investigation through resolution, with a strong emphasis on litigation strategy and client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex medical malpractice claims
- Analyze insurance coverage and make appropriate coverage determinations
- Develop and execute litigation strategies in collaboration with defense counsel
- Manage claim reserves and drive cost-effective claim outcomes
- Negotiate high-value settlements and handle complex claim resolutions
- Oversee defense and panel counsel to ensure adherence to litigation guidelines
- Ensure compliance with all internal, legal, and regulatory standards
- Partner cross-functionally to provide insights, reporting, and claim guidance
- Identify trends and emerging risks within clinical and healthcare environments
- Attend mediations, trials, and meetings with insureds, attorneys, and stakeholders
- Participate in client-facing meetings and occasional industry events
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience handling medical malpractice / professional liability claims with a carrier or TPA
- Strong background managing litigated, complex, and high-severity claims
- Solid understanding of coverage analysis, insurance law, and claims practices
- Proven ability to negotiate and resolve high-exposure claims
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- JD preferred
- Active adjuster license and/or industry designations (AIC, ARM, CPCU, etc.) are a plus
