This is a management position, overseeing a small team of analysts within the actuarial department. As the Director of the rate filings team, you will be responsible for ensuring all rate filings are complete, accurate, and timely. You will be a key part of the product development process by developing and filing rates for new products while ensuring rates for all existing products remain adequate. The work will span all 50 states covering admitted commercial and specialty lines including but not limited to marine, entertainment, energy, and programs business.
Essential Functions:
- Institute and manage actuarial rate filing process ensuring rates remain current and adequate.
- Review bureau circulars and make recommendations for adoption or deferral.
- Lead team in preparing Property and Casualty rate filings for bureau and proprietary products.
- Work with State Filings team to submit filings and respond to questions.
- Work with Actuarial, Underwriting, Product Development, and Legal to ensure all filing needs are met.
- Maintain filing documentation and support.
Skills, Knowledge & Ability:
- Knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of experience preparing and submitting property and casualty insurance rate filing for bureau and proprietary products
- Preference for management experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Able to manage multiple projects and bring them to conclusion
- Actuarial designation is not required for this position
