Job Opportunity: Regional Underwriting Manager – Spokane, WA
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of commercial underwriters across the region.
- Serve as the highest level of underwriting authority and technical resource within the territory.
- Partner with regional leadership to drive profitable growth and execute business strategy.
- Review and approve complex commercial risks and provide guidance on challenging underwriting decisions.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor underwriting quality, service standards, and portfolio performance.
- Delegate and oversee underwriting authority levels across the team.
- Provide training, coaching, and technical support to underwriters to enhance performance and development.
- Analyse market trends and regional opportunities to support growth initiatives.
- Establish and track key performance metrics to measure underwriting results and business objectives.
- Collaborate with agents and brokers to strengthen relationships and support production goals.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive commercial underwriting experience with strong technical expertise.
- Proven leadership experience managing, mentoring, or developing underwriting teams.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, and portfolio management.
- Ability to evaluate and make decisions on complex or large commercial accounts.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external agency partners.
- Strategic mindset with experience contributing to business planning and growth initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience driving underwriting profitability while balancing growth objectives.
- Ability to work collaboratively in both virtual and in-office environments.
