Our client, a reputable asset manager, is looking to hire a Vice President of Fund Accounting to join their Finance team in Manhattan. This position offers great leadership and growth within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the fund accounting function across alternative investment strategies, ensuring operational excellence and scalability
- Direct all aspects of fund financial operations, including NAV calculations, financial reporting, capital calls, distributions, waterfalls, and investor allocations
- Manage, mentor, and develop high-performing fund accounting teams, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven culture
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party administrators, auditors, custodians, and other external service providers
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, internal controls, and firm policies across all fund structures and reporting processes
- Partner cross-functionally with Investor Relations, Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Investment teams on fund structuring, transactions, and ongoing operational matters
- Lead strategic initiatives focused on process optimization, automation, systems enhancements, and infrastructure scalability to support business growth
- Oversee the operational onboarding and launch of new funds, including review of governing documents, workflows, and reporting frameworks
- Support senior leadership with ad hoc analysis, investor reporting, and strategic finance initiatives
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive fund accounting experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams in a fast-paced environment
- Deep understanding of private fund structures, fund operations, and investor reporting requirements
- Strong technical accounting knowledge; CPA or equivalent designation preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, drive operational improvements, and communicate effectively across internal and external stakeholders
- Experience working with fund administrators, auditors, and complex fund structures preferred
