Overview:
Senior hands-on Network Security Engineer role within a large enterprise undergoing major infrastructure and cloud connectivity transformation.
The team is delivering a wider portfolio of network and security initiatives, including a Cloud WAN transformation programme, where security plays a central role in how traffic is routed, segmented, and protected across enterprise and cloud environments.
This role sits at the centre of that broader landscape, with Palo Alto technologies forming the core security platform, enabling next-generation firewalling, secure connectivity, and policy-driven routing.
Role Purpose:
- Lead the design, implementation, and support of enterprise network security solutions, with a strong focus on Palo Alto technologies and modern cloud/network security architecture, including Cloud WAN initiatives.
- This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong ownership, deep technical capability, and the ability to operate independently while supporting junior engineers and influencing security design decisions.
- There is a clear pathway toward Staff Engineer progression, offering increased technical authority and architectural influence over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and support Palo Alto NGFW environments (ATP, DLP, DNS Security, GlobalProtect)
- Deliver secure network architectures including segmentation, access control, and policy enforcement
- Support broader Cloud WAN transformation initiatives, including L3 routing and secure connectivity design
- Work across Prisma Access, Cloud NGFW, Strata Cloud Manager
- Troubleshoot complex network/security incidents across enterprise environments
- Support NAC (802.1X), WAN/LAN connectivity, and segmentation strategies
- Collaborate with SOC and InfoSec teams on incident response and remediation
- Contribute to observability and monitoring (e.g. DataDog)
In Order to Be Successful:
- Proven hands-on delivery in enterprise network security engineering
- Strong experience with Palo Alto security platforms
- Ability to own implementation and outcomes, not just contribute within larger teams
- Strong troubleshooting capability in high-availability enterprise environments
- Comfortable operating across both network and security domains (security-first mindset)
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers
