Senior Manager of Financial Accounting
Location: Tampa, FL (Remote/Hybrid Considered)
Our client, a rapidly growing Property & Casualty insurance organization, is seeking a Senior Manager of Financial Accounting to join their leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to play a key role in overseeing financial accounting operations, driving process improvements, and supporting the continued growth of a highly successful insurance platform.
Reporting to executive leadership, this individual will lead core accounting functions, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and provide guidance on technical accounting matters within a dynamic and evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Oversee accounting activities related to insurance operations, including reserves, reinsurance transactions, and catastrophe-related accounting.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control frameworks, including SOX compliance, while supporting internal and external audit requirements.
- Research and provide guidance on complex accounting matters and technical accounting issues in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to support business growth and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with finance, actuarial, operations, and executive leadership teams to align accounting processes with broader business objectives.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Ensure operational accounting activities support accurate, reliable, and transparent financial reporting.
- Promote best practices and governance standards across the accounting organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, technical accounting, or corporate accounting leadership.
- Prior experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry or another highly regulated financial services environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting professionals.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, insurance accounting principles, and internal control frameworks.
- Proven ability to analyze complex transactions and apply sound accounting judgment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience driving process improvement initiatives and managing change within a growing organization.
