About the Opportunity

A leading national insurance organization is seeking an experienced insurance compliance professional to oversee surplus lines licensing, regulatory compliance, and producer governance activities across multiple jurisdictions. This is a highly visible role responsible for ensuring the organization maintains compliance with state insurance regulations while partnering with business leaders, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Operations to support a strong regulatory framework.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of producer licensing, surplus lines regulations, premium tax requirements, and multi-state insurance compliance who is looking to play a strategic role within a complex insurance organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee surplus lines licensing compliance and regulatory requirements across multiple states.
  • Execute and maintain Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) filings, regulatory attestations, and related licensing activities.
  • Monitor producer and agency licensing requirements, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable state regulations.
  • Oversee premium tax reporting obligations, filing deadlines, affidavits, broker responsible forms, and related surplus lines documentation.
  • Coordinate state insurance department filings and maintain compliance through NIPR and other regulatory systems.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Finance, and business leaders to interpret regulatory changes and implement appropriate controls.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory examinations, and Department of Insurance inquiries.
  • Monitor changes in state surplus lines regulations and assess operational impacts across the business.
  • Contribute to governance initiatives, compliance reporting, and continuous process improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Active Property & Casualty (P&C) Producer License.
  • Active Surplus Lines (Excess & Surplus) License.
  • Active Life, Accident & Health (A&H) Producer License.
  • Experience serving as a Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) or supporting DRLP filings, regulatory attestations, or similar licensing responsibilities strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Multi-state insurance licensing requirements
    • Surplus lines regulations
    • Premium tax reporting and remittance
    • NIPR and state Department of Insurance filing processes
    • Producer and agency licensing compliance
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions.

Preferred Background

Candidates may come from insurance carriers, wholesalers, MGAs, retail brokerages, or agency compliance organizations with experience in producer licensing, agency licensing, surplus lines compliance, regulatory affairs, or insurance operations. Individuals with strong backgrounds in licensing governance, regulatory compliance, operational controls, or surplus lines administration will be particularly well suited for this opportunity.
