Oliver James have been engaged to embark on the search of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). this role will build and lead the end-to-end finance function, setting financial strategy and infrastructure to support a high-growth annuity platform.
The client operates in the annuities and insurance industry. This is a unique opportunity to join a newly repositioned, well-capitalized carrier at an early stage, offering the chance to shape the financial architecture of a business targeting significant scale in the retirement solutions market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead all core finance functions including controllership, FP&A, and treasury
- Develop and execute financial strategy aligned to growth, profitability, and capital efficiency objectives
- Oversee financial reporting, management insights, and forecasting to support executive decision-making
- Lead budgeting and long-range planning processes across the organization
- Manage capital strategy including liquidity, investment oversight, and balance sheet optimization
- Implement robust risk management frameworks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, including partnerships and growth opportunities
- Act as primary interface with investors and key external stakeholders
- Build scalable processes, controls, and governance frameworks to support a growing insurance platform
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within insurance or financial services
- Strong understanding of insurance finance including reporting, capital management, and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated experience building or transforming finance functions in a growth or evolving environment
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate financial data into business insights
- Proven leadership capability with experience building and managing high-performing teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and investors
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
