Manager of Financial Operations

INTRODUCTION:
Oliver James have been engaged to embark on the search of a Manager of Financial Operations. this role will take ownership of core finance operations, build scalable infrastructure, and oversee end-to-end accounting processes within a high-growth insurance platform.

This role can be based out of New York, Connecticut or North Carolina.

Compensation ranges between 120-150k base salary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations including cash management, banking activity, and payables
  • Lead reconciliation processes across bank accounts, general ledger, and policy/admin systems
  • Manage month-end and quarter-end close coordination, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Establish and enhance financial controls, procedures, and documentation across operations
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, treasury, actuarial, and operations teams
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives to reduce manual workflows
  • Own relationships with auditors and assist with regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Supervise and develop a small team responsible for operational accounting activities
  • Provide support on ad-hoc projects, reporting, and finance transformation initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • ~8-15 years of experience across accounting and financial operations
  • Prior experience within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring teams
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations, cash processes, and financial close cycles
  • Experience building or improving processes in a growth or evolving environment
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
