Location: Durham, NC – 3 days per week onsite

Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000

Overview:

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Analyst with hands-on experience in life insurance or annuity products and a strong grasp of API validation. In this role, you’ll help ensure the reliability and compliance of insurance technology solutions by testing both user-facing features and the services that power them.

You’ll partner with cross-functional teams-including product, engineering, and business stakeholders-to deliver high-quality software that meets functional expectations and regulatory standards. This position reports to QA leadership and plays a central role in validating complex insurance workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand Requirements: Work closely with product and business teams to interpret functional and technical requirements, translating them into practical test scenarios aligned with business rules and compliance needs.
  • Develop Test Coverage: Design and maintain test cases across multiple testing types, including functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance.
  • Validate APIs: Perform thorough testing of backend services using tools such as Postman or SoapUI. Confirm endpoint behavior, data accuracy, and adherence to performance and security expectations.
  • Manage Defects: Identify, document, and track issues using tools like JIRA. Provide clear reproduction steps and collaborate with developers to drive timely resolution.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage with developers, analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support successful releases.
  • Regression Assurance: Execute regression cycles to ensure updates do not introduce issues into existing functionality, especially within core insurance processes.
  • Data Integrity Checks: Validate calculations and data accuracy related to policies, premiums, withdrawals, and other critical financial elements.
  • Support UAT: Assist business users during acceptance testing by sharing results, logging defects, and helping troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain Documentation: Keep organized records of test cases, execution results, and defects to support traceability and audit readiness.
  • Insurance Domain Testing: Focus on scenarios related to life insurance and annuity products, including areas like policy lifecycle, servicing, claims, and financial transactions.
  • Automation Partnership: Collaborate with automation engineers to identify opportunities for reusable tests and contribute to automated API regression efforts.

What We’re Looking For

  • Need experience with a life insurance, claims, or annuity software platform
  • Strong understanding of API testing concepts and tools
  • Familiarity with test management and defect tracking systems
  • Ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
