Job Title: QA Analyst – Insurance
Location: Durham, NC – 3 days per week onsite
Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000
Overview:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Analyst with hands-on experience in life insurance or annuity products and a strong grasp of API validation. In this role, you’ll help ensure the reliability and compliance of insurance technology solutions by testing both user-facing features and the services that power them.
You’ll partner with cross-functional teams-including product, engineering, and business stakeholders-to deliver high-quality software that meets functional expectations and regulatory standards. This position reports to QA leadership and plays a central role in validating complex insurance workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand Requirements: Work closely with product and business teams to interpret functional and technical requirements, translating them into practical test scenarios aligned with business rules and compliance needs.
- Develop Test Coverage: Design and maintain test cases across multiple testing types, including functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance.
- Validate APIs: Perform thorough testing of backend services using tools such as Postman or SoapUI. Confirm endpoint behavior, data accuracy, and adherence to performance and security expectations.
- Manage Defects: Identify, document, and track issues using tools like JIRA. Provide clear reproduction steps and collaborate with developers to drive timely resolution.
- Team Collaboration: Engage with developers, analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support successful releases.
- Regression Assurance: Execute regression cycles to ensure updates do not introduce issues into existing functionality, especially within core insurance processes.
- Data Integrity Checks: Validate calculations and data accuracy related to policies, premiums, withdrawals, and other critical financial elements.
- Support UAT: Assist business users during acceptance testing by sharing results, logging defects, and helping troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain Documentation: Keep organized records of test cases, execution results, and defects to support traceability and audit readiness.
- Insurance Domain Testing: Focus on scenarios related to life insurance and annuity products, including areas like policy lifecycle, servicing, claims, and financial transactions.
- Automation Partnership: Collaborate with automation engineers to identify opportunities for reusable tests and contribute to automated API regression efforts.
