Salary: up to £120,000
A leading international insurance and reinsurance organisation is looking to appoint a Senior P&C Reserving Actuary to join its UK actuarial team in London.
This is a broad, high-profile role offering significant exposure across a diverse P&C portfolio, with responsibility for approximately £3.5bn of reserves across 12 legal entities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in quarterly reserving, financial and regulatory reporting, business partnering and actuarial transformation.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality reserving analysis across multiple lines of business, while working closely with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Risk and Pricing.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering quarterly technical reserving analysis across multiple P&C lines.
- Providing actuarial insight into reserve movements, trends and emerging claims experience.
- Working directly with Underwriters to challenge assumptions and communicate actuarial judgement and recommendations.
- Supporting UK and European legal entities across UK GAAP, French GAAP, Solvency II and Solvency UK reporting.
- Contributing to annual portfolio reviews and actuarial reporting.
- Supporting regulatory, audit and governance requirements, including responding to auditor queries and supporting audit defence.
- Supporting a significant actuarial transformation programme and identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Working closely with international actuarial, claims, underwriting, finance and risk teams.
- Mentoring and supporting more junior members of the actuarial team.
About You
We are looking for a qualified P&C actuary who combines strong technical reserving capability with commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder management skills.
You will ideally have:
- FIA, FCAS, FIAA or equivalent qualification.
- Significant P&C reserving experience.
- Experience working within the London Market or Specialty insurance environment
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, French GAAP, Solvency II and/or Solvency UK.
- Knowledge of IFRS 17.
- Experience analysing and explaining financial impacts and reserve movements.
- Confidence working directly with senior Underwriters and challenging assumptions constructively.
- Strong understanding of P&C insurance and reinsurance products and reserving methodologies.
- Experience of actuarial software, with ResQ experience particularly beneficial.
What We’re Looking For
This is not a purely technical or back-office reserving position.
We are looking for someone who is commercial, proactive and comfortable taking ownership. You should enjoy understanding the story behind the numbers, working with Underwriters and other business stakeholders, and translating actuarial analysis into meaningful business insight.
