Tax Supervising Senior – Los Angeles / Orange County
Location: Los Angeles / Orange County, CA
Employment: Full-Time | Exempt | Hybrid / Remote Flexibility
Level: Tax Supervising Senior
A chance to step into greater responsibility without sacrificing flexibility.
We’re working with a well-established, Partner-led public accounting firm that has built a strong reputation for technical expertise, client service and developing professionals from within.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tax professional who is ready to take on greater technical and client responsibility while joining a firm that places a genuine emphasis on career development, flexibility and work-life balance.
Why consider this opportunity?
Greater ownership and client exposure
As a Tax Supervising Senior, you’ll take responsibility for increasingly complex tax engagements, participate directly in client meetings and tax planning, and take ownership of client relationships delegated by Partners and Managers.
You’ll have the opportunity to make decisions across a broad range of tax matters rather than simply executing work assigned to you.
A genuine leadership opportunity
You’ll play an important role in developing the next generation of tax professionals, including supervising Seniors, Semi-Seniors and Staff Accountants.
Responsibilities include reviewing staff assignments, providing on-the-job training, conducting performance evaluations and contributing to professional development programs.
Fast development from within
The firm has a strong focus on professional and personal advancement. Its development programs are designed around learning, leadership and continued growth, while Partners and Directors remain actively involved in the development of their people.
There are also opportunities to gain exposure to practice development, referral sources, community involvement and industry activities.
Partner-led and people-focused
You’ll work in an environment where experienced Partners and Directors are accessible and involved. The firm combines the resources and breadth of a larger accounting organization with a more personal, collaborative environment.
Flexible working model
Remote flexibility is a core part of the firm’s modern work philosophy. The firm supports a “work where you are” approach, providing employees with the technology and flexibility to work effectively while maintaining a strong work-life balance.
Work-life balance
The firm actively promotes flexibility in working hours and encourages employees to make use of their time off. Its people consistently highlight the collaborative culture, flexibility and emphasis on personal well-being as differentiators from other public accounting environments.
The Role
As a Tax Supervising Senior, you will:
-
Technically review and approve tax returns and governmental tax examinations of varying complexity.
-
Take responsibility for larger and more complex tax returns.
-
Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning.
-
Take ownership of client service responsibilities.
-

-
Develop and train Senior, Semi-Senior and Staff Accountants.
-
Review staff assignments and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
-
Contribute to professional development and training programs.
-
Participate in practice development, referral source and industry activities.
What we’re looking for
-
5+ years of public accounting experience, with increasing responsibility and complexity.
-
At least 2 years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
-
At least 1 year of supervisory experience directing the work of tax professionals.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
-
Active CPA license or actively working toward obtaining the CPA.
-
Strong technical tax knowledge and research skills.
-
Excellent communication and client-service abilities.
-
Commitment to ongoing professional development.
The Opportunity
If you’re an experienced Tax professional who wants to move beyond simply preparing returns and take on greater technical ownership, client responsibility and leadership, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
You’ll have the resources and client exposure of an established accounting firm, combined with Partner involvement, opportunities for advancement, remote flexibility and a culture that genuinely values work-life balance.
