Managing Director, Insurance M&A / FIG Advisory

A leading financial advisory firm is seeking a Managing Director to lead and grow its Insurance M&A and FIG advisory practice. The firm advises on a broad range of transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic alternatives across the insurance sector, with a particular focus on life, annuity, P&C, and specialty carriers.
The Role
The MD will be responsible for originating and executing M&A and strategic advisory mandates across the insurance vertical. This is a senior client-facing role with full P&L ownership expectations and direct reporting to firm leadership. The right candidate will bring an established network across insurance company C-suites, private equity sponsors active in financial services, and reinsurance counterparties.
Day to day you will be originating new mandates, managing senior client relationships, and leading deal teams on live transactions. You will also work closely with capital markets, private credit, and restructuring colleagues where insurance sector expertise is relevant.
Background
- 12+ years of investment banking experience with a meaningful portion spent advising insurance companies or financial sponsors on insurance-focused transactions
- Demonstrated track record of origination and mandate wins at the MD or Director level
- Deep familiarity with insurance company balance sheets, regulatory capital frameworks (RBC, Solvency II), and the role of reinsurance in M&A structuring
- Experience advising on transactions involving life/annuity blocks, run-off portfolios, MGAs, or specialty carriers is a strong plus
- Existing relationships with decision makers at insurance holding companies, PE firms with insurance platforms, or reinsurers

Base salary range of $400,000 to $500,000
Total compensation includes a discretionary bonus component and is expected to significantly exceed base salary for qualified candidates. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated origination track record.
