Chief Financial Officer | Commercial P&C Insurance | Virginia
I’m partnering on an exciting opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer to join a growing commercial Property & Casualty insurance business, overseeing two operating units within a well-established US insurance group.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious finance leader to join the senior leadership team, work closely with the President and play a key role in driving business performance, financial strategy and continued growth.
The Opportunity
- CFO responsibility across two insurance operating units, with a broad remit spanning accounting, financial reporting, FP&A and financial planning.
- Direct partnership with the President and wider corporate finance leadership, providing strategic insight and supporting key business decisions.
- Lead monthly financial reporting, general ledger, expense management, annual statements and budgeting and forecasting.
- Oversee financial controls, regulatory compliance and both GAAP and statutory reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, drive automation and enhance the efficiency of the finance function.
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of finance professionals, with three direct reports.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience.
- Property & Casualty insurance experience is essential, including both STAT and GAAP insurance reporting.
- Strong technical accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and expense management capabilities.
- Familiarity with direct and agency billing.
- Experience with financial systems, ideally Oracle and PeopleSoft, alongside strong Excel skills.
- A commercially minded leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, sound business judgement and a proven track record of developing and engaging teams.
Candidates currently operating at CFO, VP Finance, AVP or Controller level who are ready to take the next step are encouraged to get in touch. While P&C carrier experience is preferred, exceptional candidates from other insurance sectors with relevant experience may also be considered.
Location & Package
- Glen Allen, Virginia, with five days per week in the office.
- Base salary of $210,000 to $275,000.
- Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus
- Potential long-term incentives, subject to eligibility and approval.
- Relocation or signing bonus support may be available.
