About the Company
Oliver James’ client is one of the world’s most trusted insurance companies and Ireland’s leading Property & Casualty insurer. They are looking for a Data, Privacy & AI Governance Specialist to help ensure compliance with data protection laws, governance frameworks, and emerging AI regulations. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer, AI Trust Officer, and Data Governance Specialist, you will support the responsible use of data and AI while helping the business manage risk and meet regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Data Protection Officer, AI Trust Officer, and Data Governance teams to align privacy, AI, and data governance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, the EU AI Act, and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct privacy, AI governance, and impact assessments for new and existing data and AI initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance governance policies, frameworks, and guidelines.
- Support the review and approval of new data and AI use cases.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate privacy, data, and AI-related risks in collaboration with business teams.
- Assess data breaches, support regulatory reporting, and maintain records of processing activities.
- Promote Privacy and Responsible AI by Design across the organisation.
- Review third-party relationships and due diligence to ensure compliance with privacy and AI requirements.
- Monitor regulatory developments and industry best practices.
- Work with cross-functional teams to embed data protection and governance into projects.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Law, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CDPSE, AIGP, or AIPP are advantageous).
- 3+ years’ experience in data protection, privacy, or governance, ideally within financial services.
- Strong understanding of GDPR, the EU AI Act, and related regulations.
- Experience conducting privacy and AI/ethics impact assessments.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and compliance.
- Experience in a multinational environment and Project management experience are beneficial
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and AI governance.
- Experience with OneTrust is desirable.
