My client, a fast-growing alternative asset manager overseeing a diverse platform of private and retail investment vehicles is looking for an Assistant Fund Controller to manage day-to-day fund accounting. This role works closely with internal teams and outside service providers to keep reporting on track across a multi-fund platform.
Responsibilities
- Review and finalize quarterly financials and investor capital statements, keeping internal and external deadlines on track
- Manage the fund administrator relationship, including expense budgeting, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Sign off on trial balances prepared by the fund administrator, resolving discrepancies as they arise
- Review disclosure support schedules for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare quarterly performance summaries highlighting key metrics
- Support investor reporting and coordinate capital calls and distributions
- Partner with operations to validate portfolio system data behind accounting packages
- Oversee tax reporting support schedules
- Mentor and help train the fund accounting team, driving process improvements
- Handle ad-hoc reporting requests as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
- 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally including public accounting or professional services
- Experience with private and retail fund structures
- Fixed income exposure preferred; private credit a plus
- SEC reporting experience with public vehicles a plus
- Strong Excel skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
