Position Summary
The Manager, IT – Integrations and Automation is a hands-on technical engineering leader responsible for the strategy, architecture, delivery, and modernization of the organization’s enterprise integration platform. This role leads the Integrations Team and drives API-first, cloud-native integration solutions connecting Guidewire, enterprise applications, digital platforms, and third-party partners.
This is not a traditional middleware or support management role. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership, influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, establishing engineering standards, and leading modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise integration strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap.
- Drive modernization initiatives, including API-first architecture, cloud migration, event-driven integrations, legacy platform modernization, and DevOps maturity.
- Own enterprise API management, governance, lifecycle management, and cloud-native integration standards.
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and support of integrations across Guidewire, enterprise applications, cloud platforms, and third-party vendors.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, engineering standards, mentoring, and technology decision-making.
- Build and develop a high-performing engineering team while managing priorities, delivery, and operational excellence.
- Promote modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, Agile delivery, and AI-assisted development.
- Identify automation opportunities, including RPA, while partnering with teams responsible for enterprise AI initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- Experience leading technical engineering teams with responsibility for both people leadership and technical direction.
- Strong experience with:
- Enterprise integration architecture
- REST APIs and API management platforms (AWS API Gateway, Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, WSO2, or similar)
- API governance and lifecycle management
- Cloud-native and event-driven architectures
- AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- CI/CD, GitHub or Bitbucket, Agile delivery, and modern software engineering practices
- Experience influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Guidewire Cloud and Guidewire Cloud Integration Gateway experience.
- Insurance industry integration experience.
- Experience leading modernization initiatives, including cloud migration and legacy integration replacement.
- Experience with serverless technologies, AWS Lambda, and enterprise automation (RPA).
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate is a technical integration engineering leader, not simply a manager of middleware or support teams. They understand APIs as strategic business platforms, have led cloud-native modernization efforts, actively influence architecture and engineering decisions, and build high-performing teams that embrace modern software development practices.
